Fear(s) of the Dark

About Fear(s) of the Dark

Fear(s) of the Dark is a wildly inventive and visually dazzling collection of fearful tales by six of the world's most renowned comic and graphic artists - Blutch, Charles Burns, Marie Caillou, Pierre Di Sciullo, Lorenzo Mattotti, and Richard McGuire. From a besotted student whose girlfriend is weirdly ardent in her affections, to a Japanese schoolgirl menaced by a long-dead samurai, and a pack of hounds on a bloodthirsty rampage, FEAR(S) has a story strand to trouble every sleep - not to mention a stunning range of animation styles. Shot in shimmering black and white, the six intertwined tales create an unprecedented epic where phobias and nightmares come to life and reveal Fear at its most naked and intense.

Acclaim

"Rusty alleyways and vaporous ghosts painted by the masters of dread. Razor-sharp images that will slice your eye and nest there forever. Thrilling, disturbing and haunting. Bring the kids!"
Guillermo del Toro
"Breathtaking...you'll get something horrifying. The animation is amongst the most atmospheric, moody and haunting works I've seen. Man, this thing is fantastic."
Harry Knowles, Aint It Cool News
"Rich, inventive. Often gorgeous to look at, and clever. I don't imagine you'll want to miss this black-and-white feast."
James Van Maanen, Greencine Daily
"A fun and hypnotic treat...The film looks sublime in 35mm."
Ryan Bruce Levey, Fangoria.com
"A SOPHISTICATED SHOWCASE OF CONTEMPORARY ANIMATION. The best short, by Mr. Burns, is a science-fiction nightmare of erotic slavery, with elements of ALIEN and Kafka's METAMORPHOSIS."
Stephen Holden, New York Times
