Sundance hit romcom SAVE THE DATE, starring Lizzy Caplan, Alison Brie, Goeffrey Arend and Martin Starr is available today on IFC Films nationwide VOD, iTunes, Sundance Now, Amazon Streaming, Google Play, XBOX 360 and PS3! Check out this special note from director Michael Mohan marking the occasion:
There’s such a fine line between being super excited about sharing something you’re immensely proud of, and being an annoying self-promoter.
Yes, this is one of those emails. Just a friendly heads up that the film I’ve been working on for the past 2+ years, SAVE THE DATE is finally available on Video On Demand starting today. The film’s a light romantic dramedy, co-written by my favorite graphic novelist Jeffrey Brown, and starring a whole bunch of truly awesome people:
Lizzy Caplan (Party Down, Bachelorette, True Blood),
Alison Brie (Mad Men, Community, Five Year Engagement),
Martin Starr (Knocked Up, Freaks and Geeks, Adventureland),
Geoffrey Arend (500 Days of Summer, Super Troopers),
and Mark Webber (Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, Broken Flowers).
Unlike most independent films– this isn’t some esoteric character study about a one-legged fruit salesman struggling with agoraphobia– this is the kind of film people actually want to see, harkening back to films like Reality Bites or Singles. And in ten years when its on TV at 2:30 in the afternoon, I guarantee you’ll totally do your laundry while watching it again.
And so the fact we’re on VOD before it’s in theatres means that your college friend that lives in Kansas City, your parents back in Akron, your ex-girlfriend in Sacramento… all of these people can see the movie RIGHT NOW if you tell them about it. And YOU LOOK COOL because you heard about it before everyone else did.
And yes, dude, I know Skyfall looks totally amazing, I’m with you. That train scene, when he adjusts his cufflinks– so cool. But the director of that film doesn’t live in a tiny studio apartment, driving a car with 200,000 miles on it. Maybe we can go see that next weekend instead.
So if you have ANY interest in seeing our film, I urge you to check it out this weekend. And if you have a facebook profile or a twitter account or even just a mouth, just know that every time you spread the word an angel gets it’s wings.
I’ll put all the info on how you can see it below + I truly hope you dig the film. If you don’t like it, the next time I see ya, you can punch me in the arm as hard as you want.

The film is also available via Amazon Streaming, PS3, XBox
and in the “before it’s in theatres” or “IFC Films” section of all major cable carriers (Direct TV, Comcast, COX, etc).
The film will also be in theatres in NY/LA (and hopefully more places) on December 14th. That’s three days before my birthday. So for LA peeps, just know there’s gonna be a party at wherever we end up playing that night.
