Today, the owners of Village Restaurant, located at 62 West 9th Street in downtown NYC, announced their lease was up and they would stop business as of Saturday.  Located in close proximity to the IFC Center, Village became a favorite place for IFC staff members.  We’d often toast different milestones there.  I have distinct memories of having drinks with Guy Maddin the night MY WINNIPEG opened and also welcoming new staff members.  Most memorable were the huge late night gatherings every year after the New York Film Festival party.  I’m sure everyone has their own memories of those nights, but mine were all good.  Goodbye Village, we’ll miss you!
